ABOUT THE WOOD SPECIES WE USE

The wood species we offer vary. It's helpful to educate yourself on the individual qualities each species has when purchasing a product derived from it. 

Maple

  • Excellent Longevity

  • Tight grain limits bacteria from entering the wood.

  • Colors vary from light to medium brown.

Black Walnut

  • Originated in North America

  •  Slightly spicy scent to its trunk

  • Tight grain

  • Excellent longevity

White Oak
 

  • Very Dense

  • Heavier wood 

  • Nonporous therefore Rot resistant.

  • Can dull equipment used to cut the wood because of how hard it is. 

  • Quarter sawn white oak (pictured) has distinct shimmering scales or rays that appear perpendicular to the grain.

Mahogany 

  • Tropical hardwood from West Africa

  • Rot resistant.

  • UV resistant 

  • Consistent grain pattern and color
